Every year, I come across a new sunscreen product and it totally overwhelms me. Just wanted to share my two-cents about the products we are using right now. Maybe it will help a Mama out or maybe not.
Living in the Desert we wear sunscreen all summer. Yes, sunshine is great, great vitamin D and wonderful health benefits. Burns are not great, they hurt, cause skin damage, among a lot of other compilations which you can look up for yourself. When the temps get to be 90s we are applying sunscreen if we are going to be out in the sun for more then 15min.
Just a couple of Mama tidbits.
- Sunscreen Expires so check your bottle.
- Apply before sun exposure. Check your bottle usually they will say apply 15 to 20 min before getting out in the sun to be effective.
- Reapply after whatever your brand suggest. Usually it is every hour to hour and a half.
- Rashgaurd tops will help protect your Little’s arms, chest and back.
- Hats help block the sun from their face but they are not going to wear that in the pool.
- If you child has a part in their hairline from a braid or something like that make sure to apply sunscreen there as well.
- Don’t forget about yourself. After getting husband and the kids all lathered up it is easy to not care but don’t forget.
Probably easier for me to break this review into two different categories. If I am just going to be at the park for a couple of hours I use a different sunblock then if I am going to be at the pool or ocean. So a Casual and a formal application.
The Product Review – Casual Sunscreen -Daily not going in the water
Sun Bum has been my favorite for the past year as my going to be out for a couple of hours not around water sunblock. I use the 50 spf on my Little One. Why I like it? The sent smells amazing and it is super easy to rub in. This brand has a spray which also is a really nice product. The spray comes out white so you know what needs to be rubbed in. One new product of Sun Bum I tried this past month is the clear zinc with a spf of 50. For a product that has zinc is really does rub in clear and does not take long at all to rub in.
The Product Review – Formal -In the water or at the Beach
Blue Lizard was recommended to me by an IG friend. First the bottle is pretty cool. When it senses harmful UV rays it turns BLUE! Tried it and totally works but it immediately turns blue when you live in the desert. This product has zinc so it will take a while to rub in and will look that white color when it is applied. Hey, it is really giving a lot of protection so I am OK with it. Lather it on.
Baby Organics also has a nice product the sunscreen took FOREVER to rub in. Works great I just didn’t love it so I found another product. I would just give up and my Little One would just have white splotches everywhere. Which is why I looked for an alternative.
My husband wanted me to mention NO-AD sunscreen. Totally his favorite sunscreen. Supposedly this is the product he uses all of the time but I have never purchased it, nor ever seen him with it but he says he loves it and it is his favorite
Sunscreen applicator is new to me but sooo awesome. Put your sunblock inside and just rub it on. Kids can totally help out with this and the mess of all that amazing sunscreen is not gooey in your hands.
Thanks for taking the time to read all about my favorite sunscreen products. Have a fun and safe time out in the SUN!!!!Shop Amazon – Hot New Releases – Updated Every Hour
